The Detroit Lions are on the verge of competing for a Super Bowl. Did the moves this offseason put them over the top?
Will Isaac TeSlaa unseat Tim Patrick?
The Lions not only drafted Isaac TeSlaa higher than expected, but they also paid a decent price to move up and make sure they acquired him. He is athletic and can block, but often played the slot in college. Now, his role will be to replace Tim Patrick as the third wide out. He has the size and blocking down, and with a third-round selection, they are betting on him to do it soon, but he is still raw as a receiver, so there are questions.
Who starts at guard?
The Lions had Graham Glasgow and Kevin Zeitler at guard last year. Zeitler is gone, and while Glasgow is around, he is aging and not coming off his best season. The Lions drafted Christian Mahogany in round four last year, and he looked good when he got a chance to start in their playoff loss. They drafted Tate Ratledge in round two and Miles Frazier in round five this year. Can Ratledge start right away with Mahogany, giving them a young and powerful interior?
Are they okay on the edge?
The Lions have a notable need at edge rusher, but they did not do anything about it outside of a round-six pick. Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport are still working back from injury, and even Davenport is a huge question overall. With Josh Pascal and Al-Quadin Muhammad as the only notable depth, they may be making another in-season move here.
