The Green Bay Packers have become annual playoff contenders with Jordan Love. What questions have emerged from their offseason decisions?
What happens in the wide receiver room?
The Green Bay Packers drafted Matthew Golden in round one, breaking their drought on round one wideouts. Now the question is how he fits. The reality is that he will mostly push Christian Watson to the side. Both are the speed threats. Jayden Reed is more of the slot/gadget player, and then Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks are the possession receivers in the group. Considering Savion Williams was drafted as well, and he can be a gadget type, he would back up Reed, and the Packers would have three backups for all three roles entering camp.
Who can create a pass rush across Rashan Gary?
Rashan Gay is a strong run defender who can provide some pass rush. The team needs to find a way to create a pass rush opposite of him. They drafted Lukas Van Ness in round one, but through two years, Kinglsey Enagbare has been better. Now, the team drafted Barryn Sorrell and Colin Oliver. Both were day three picks, but both are going to get chances to get legitimate pass rush snaps as rookies. Who steps up here?
What is going on at cornerback?
The Packers apparently are going to keep Jaire Alexander after the draft has passed. He will start on the outside, The question is whether it is Keison Nixon or Nate Hobbs across from him. It is likely Hobbs, but the question comes because both are better in the slot. Even Javon Bullard, a second-round pick manned the slot last year but will clearly lose his job with Hobbs in the mix. Does he move to safety? Who starts in the slot?
Can they find a resolution at linebacker?
The Packers have had a hole at linebacker for a few years now. They started Isaiah McDuffie last year, but the thought is that second-year linebacker Edgerian Cooper can take that role. If not, they also added former first-round pick Isaiah Simmons. Who starts next to Quay Walker?
Where does Anthony Belton fit in?
The Packers drafted Anthony Belton in the second round this year, and while they have five starters likely locked in, they do have both Rasheed Walker at left tackle and Sean Rhyan at right guard, who are in contract years. Where does Belton get the work, and can he push either of them as a rookie?
